Sam Spiegel is a director, music producer, composer and DJ. He recently directed “Jihad Love Squad (feat. KRS-One),” a provocative video which re-contextualizes the word jihad. An incredibly versatile and sought after talent, Sam has collaborated on many of pop culture’s most entertaining and innovative projects. He has scored spots for Nike, Cadillac and Honda, as well as “Hello Tomorrow” for adidas which won a Cannes Gold Lion for Best Music and a Silver CLIO for Original Music. Sam produced the 2009 release of N.A.S.A. (North America South America) LP “The Spirit of Apollo,” created with long time Brazilian music partner DJ Zegon. Sam also co-directed the accompanying film that gives viewers an intimate, behind the scenes look at the globetrotting musical adventures encountered during making the record. The musical project focuses on ignoring boundaries and bringing people together from completely different worlds in order to create unique and unexpected art. “The Spirit of Apollo” features Kanye West, George Clinton, M.I.A., Tom Waits, RZA and David Byrne, while the corresponding music videos feature animated/live action collaborations by visual artists including Shepard Fairey, Sage Vaughn, Marcel Dzama and The Date Farmers. Sam also produced the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sophomore record, “Show Your Bones,” named “Album of the Year” by Rolling Stone, NME and Spin, and nominated for a Grammy for best alternative album. And he’s worked extensively as a musical director on projects such as Kanye West’s “Glow In the Dark Tour,” Karen O’s “Stop The Virgins” and Target’s “Kaleidoscopic Fashion Spectacular” 2010 NYC event.
