American Express ‘Epic’ / Dir. Toby Dye

Unique in the genre of live music films, for ‘Epic’ director Toby Dye turned the camera in the opposite direction to the stage to instead focus on the audience. The result is a mesmerising short-form documentary celebrating the power of live music to entertain, inspire and create lasting memories.

Made possible thanks to American Express’s championing of live music, production of the film ran in tandem with the American Express ‘My Live Story’ campaign, built around a competition to find the finest fan photos from gigs across the country. From the tens of thousands of photos entered, twenty-one were selected by competition judges Toby Dye and musician Mark Ronson.

The competition finalists all attended a glamorous star-studded red-carpet event at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where over 200 guests watched the first ever screening of ‘Epic’. Skillfully weaved into the film where the winning photos of all twenty-one finalists, along with music curated by Mark Ronson, who also played at the event. Special screenings on Film4 followed.
