Antony Crook Captures The Thrill Of The Speedway For Mogwai

For his latest project with post-rockers Mogwai, photographer/director Antony Crook directed the video for ‘Crossing the Road’, taken from the band’s acclaimed 2017 LP ‘Every Country’s Sun’.

Shot over two months at Accord Speedway in the Catskills mountains, NY, a 1/4 mile, family run dirt oval track, the video sees Antony set up cameras on cars and around the track to chronicle the tale of one driver.

“The main driver is a guy called Johnny Hechinger. I met him when I went to scout it over the summer. He was wearing an America flag head scarf and black vest, and just caught my eye” said Antony.

Earlier in the year photographic prints by Antony were used in the album release, capturing the band hard at work during the recording process in January 2017.

As a long-time friend of the band, Antony previously photographed Mogwai on their 2012 Japan tour, and directed the acclaimed music video for ‘How to be a Werewolf’. The band also soundtracked Antony’s ‘Knock for Knock’ film for Rapha.
