Jonas Åkerlund’s long-awaited Rammstein: Paris film is set to hit screens in March this year, after being picked up by Picturehouse Entertainment.
Filmed in 2012 in Paris’ Bercy Arena, the concert film captures the ferocity and scale of Rammstein’s gargantuan live shows. Frontman Till Lindermann has subsequently become a qualified pyrotechnician due to the band’s excessive use of fire in their live shows. Fans of the band even coined the phrase “other bands play, Rammstein burns”.
“Concert films are always a big challenge. I compare it to shooting fireworks. The way I approach it is to try to translate the energy that you get in the room onto film, using every trick in the book to make as much of an impression as I can on the audience”. Jonas Åkerlund
Last year’s On The Run concert film for Jay-Z and Beyoncé may give you an idea of what Jonas has in store this time around. But Rammstein are a different beast all together – will 30 cameras have been enough to have captured the energy of the show? We’ll have to wait till March to find out.
In Jonas’ capable hands this promises to be a ballistic concert film.
Rammstein: Paris will screen in theatres internationally on March 23.
