Breathe a collective post-rock sigh of relief, Icelandic ambient demigods Sigur Rós have unveiled their first new music since 2013’s Kveikur.
Fresh off giving England a drubbing at the Euros Iceland again raised their global stock with the return of their favourite sons. Never to be defined as stereotypical or unoriginal, the three piece returned to the cultural fold by soundtracking a live broadcast of a 1,332-km journey around Iceland’s coastal ring road.
And now the band have shared their first official video for Óveður. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, Óveður was shot on Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsular in the town of Grindavík.
The video sees acclaimed Icelandic choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir drunkenly stumble through town and into a bar where members of Sigur Rós and a few other oddities await.
It leans towards the NSFW warning, but only slightly so. Check it out.
