The LA Times opened their review of the newly-released horror-comedy by declaring it, “Easily the most thrilling thriller in recent memory.” Adding, “Crush the Skull seems destined for cult status.”

Directed by Viet Nguyen and produced by Black Dog’s Aya Tanimura, the film centers on a couple of master thieves who find themselves trapped within a house they intended to rob, only to discover they’ve inadvertently wandered into the lair of a deranged serial killer.

Nguyen, known for his work on iZombie, deftly mixes screams with laughs by bringing burglars and serial killers together for his feature directorial debut. The filmmaker’s impressive suspense-inducing skills earned it the Nightfall Award for Best Horror Film at the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival, alongside plenty of praise from the genre’s fans.

Crush the Skull was released in Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle, today, Friday May 13, and will be available VOD on iTunes, Amazon, and Hulu on May 17. Watch the exclusive trailer here.
