DED! is an original multimedia play inspired by the Mexican tradition of Día De Los Muertos (Day of The Dead) and it’s premiering at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles on October 10.
Formidable Black Dog director Carlos Lopez Estrada, in collaboration with director and puppeteer Cristina Bercovitz, has created a unique and exciting theatrical experience, which combines performing arts disciplines of mime, clowning, stunts and puppetry with live orchestral music and video art.
Día De Los Muertos is both a time of celebration and remembrance; a day dedicated to acknowledging the cycle of life rather than denying or fearing the subject matter. DED! is a lively theatrical representation of this holiday, artfully exploring the concepts of death and dying, while encouraging its audiences to be contemplative of the very meaning of our own mortality.
DED! will have performances every weekend in October at the Matrix Theatre. You can check out all the info and purchase tickets at dayoftheded.com.
