Laurie Lynch is a spectacularly talented young filmmaker. His most recent piece of work, above, is a beautiful and almost tangible representation of melancholy for London baritone indie-slacker Oscar.
The single “Daffodil Days” was originally referencing a ‘difficult day’ but autocorrect had its way, and a new visual flourished (pun intended!).
The video follows Elliot, a 15 year old boy who’s enveloped in broody teen angst, as he rides around the neighborhood with a boombox and gun in hand. Oscar himself cameos, playing guitar in a bleak living room.
“You’re on your own / and that’s OK” is the line Oscar sings at the song’s end, and the video is indeed a representation of that bittersweet sentiment. Take a look, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for new work from this talented young auteur.
