We’re thrilled to announce Aya Tanimura as the newest member of the Black Dog family!
You’re probably familiar with her lyric videos for the likes of Katy Perry (see “Roar” and “Birthday”), but there’s plenty more to know about Aya. In addition to shooting music videos and commercials, Aya also writes and directs movies and short films. Her short film Sweet As won the People’s Choice Award and was a finalist in the 100% Pure New Zealand Your Big Break short film competition, and Mobius which was shot on 35mm film was an award winner on the independent film festival circuit.
Tanimura was born in Hong Kong to her Japanese father and Australian mother, but moved every few years growing up which makes her a well-traveled citizen of the world. It evidently worked well, as Tanimura is now a card-carrying member of MENSA. She’s heavily inspired by the art world, is obsessed with Francis Bacon’s work, and has a love for spending time at LACMA and MOCA in Los Angeles.
When she’s not crafting short films, commercials, music videos, or lyric videos, you’ll find her knitting tiny sweaters for penguins.
She has an incredible eye, and an equally fantastic imagination and we can’t wait to share her artistry with you!
