The Oscars are here this weekend, and to honor RSA director Ava DuVernay’s Best Picture nomination for her unforgettable film Selma, we’ve dug through our archives to showcase some of her earlier work produced by yours truly!
The Door was created for Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales campaign and centers on female friendships, breathtakingly accentuated by a lush color palette and soundtracked with some soft jazz. DuVernay takes no time at all to draw emotive performances from her cast, who are of course all dressed impeccably in clothes from the Prada fashion house.
We’d like to wish Ava DuVernay the very best this weekend at the Oscars as Selma vies for Best Picture. More importantly, congratulations to her for her incredible work chronicling Martin Luther King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights.
Come with us as we revisit her stunning fashion film The Door.
