SAM JONES Enlists Jason Bateman and Friends for MUMFORD & SONS’ Self-Parody “Hopeless Wanderer”

Sam Jones enlists an all-star comedy team with Mumford & Sons’ internet-igniting music video for “Hopeless Wanderer.”  The clip opens with out-of-focus establishing shots of what we presume to be the quartet performing in a sunny field, before the Black Dog director slowly reveals the spoof about to take place with funnymen Ed Helms, Jason Bateman, Will Forte, and Jason Sudekis standing in for the band.

With the band’s blessing (“Please make as much fun of us as you can”), Sam Jones and Hollywood’s finest pull no punches, lampooning everything from Mumford’s Dust Bowl-chic aesthetic to the violently passionate way they play their instruments. The director dished to MTV NEWS about capturing the hilarious hoe-down, which includes scenes from a rowboat serenade, a flaming banjo solo, a barbershop quartet moment and one passionate bearded makeout session between SNL Alums Sudekis and Forte. Mumford & Sons left turn into self-parody has set the Internet buzzing with praise for Sam Jones’ brilliant comedy/music crossover, already clocking in with nearly 2 million views since it was unveiled yesterday!
